Do Not Look

Genesis 3:6-7 New International Version (NIV)

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

This is what Eve did in this order. First, she looked. Next, she took. Then, she ate. and Finally, she gave. Watch out. Often the battle against temptation is lost in the ‘look’. Temptation can begin by simply seeing something that you may want or something that trips your trigger. Looking is the first step in falling through temptation into sin. You are to run from those things that tempt you. You are to stay away from anything that puts you in a bad spot. The more times you make it passed a temptation and avoid the pit falls of sin, the stronger you get. The stronger you get, the farther apart the temptation’s triggers get. But, do not get lax in your fight. Put on the armor of God. Fully clothe yourself in God’s armor and Word. Fill your mind and soul with the Word of God. Build your relationship with our Lord. Put your mind on what would be pleasing to God.
