10 God said to him, “Your name is Jacob, but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel.” So he named him Israel.
God reminded Jacob of his new name. Jacob’s life was full of difficulties and trials, but his new name was a defining moment in his desire to stay close to God despite of life’s disappointments and troubles. Do you think Christianity should offer a problem free life? When life gets difficult or disappointing, be determined to stay with God through these storms. Life can be painful, but use them as opportunities to grow. Prevail with God, and you will prevail over troubles.
