Matthew 5:13-14 New International Version (NIV)
Salt and Light
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
As a Christian, we are seen from every side. We are always being watched. A Christian’s life is analyzed. The world is trying to see if we are just an act or the real thing. Christians are collectively just as visible as a city is on top of a hill. We are also light. There is no taking our place. Light is the only answer to darkness. As salt, we are all over like salt sprinkles, and we give flavor to the world.
Dear Father, May I live a life worthy of being like a city on a hill. May I do this for you, to please you. For I want to please you. I care about you, Father. May I live like light and salt, so that I shed a good light on you, God, and set a good example of a believer who brings flavor and edification to the people around me. Thank you. In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
