Genesis 3:11-13 New International Version (NIV)
11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
God asked Adam about his sin. Adam did not want to take responsibility, so he blamed Eve. Then Eve did not want to take responsibility, so she blamed the serpent. It can be easy to shirk responsibility for one’s actions. We may not realize how detrimental it is to excuse our sins and blame others for sin or circumstances. Remember, God always knows the truth. He holds each of us responsible for our own actions. It is better to admit your wrong doings right away and face them head on. Admitting your wrong doings and facing them will get you on the road to healing and repentance, as well as, right standing with our Lord.
