Genesis 3:6-7 New International Version (NIV)
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
There is a reality about sin. The reality is that the effects of sin spread. After Eve sinned, she then involved Adam. Many times after a person does something wrong, that person does not want to be alone in that wrong doing. So, a person doing wrong will involve or invite others to join in. It is a way to relieve guilt because you are now not the only one doing the wrong deed. The saying is: ‘If you lie with dogs, you will get fleas’. Also, those who are going down the tubes want to bring others with them. Someone doing something wrong does not want to be alone, so that person will bring others down with them. They do not care about anyone but themselves. Sin is like toxic waste that is poured into a river. It quickly spreads like a disease and kills. What are you to do? Recognize and confess your sin to God before you are tempted to pollute the people around you. The first step in getting yourself out is to recognize and confess out loud.
