Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
Philippians 2:2-4 NASB
How often do you do something for no other reason than it’s the right thing, or simply to fill a need that you can? When was the last time you did something, purely out of kindness and no other reason?
I think I do on occasion, but for the most part, I believe I do things for others for myself. Pride… I want to feel good and I want others to think well of me. More often than not, I do not conceal what I’m doing or have done and seek acknowledgment and appreciation. Generally speaking, there’s too much Scott in my actions and not enough Jesus. A loving, humble heart is what is called for. Something I definitely need to focus on. I wager that holds true for some of you, as well.
I’m going to challenge myself to start addressing needs softly, humbly, with Jesus’ heart, no fanfare, no pride, just love. How about you? What’s in it for me… joy! Have a blessed weekend.
In full pursuit of the greatest Trophy,
Scott Pace
