Proverbs 6:4 New International Version (NIV)
4 Allow no sleep to your eyes,
no slumber to your eyelids.
Procrastination means to delay or postpone action or to put off doing something. We all put things off. We may say that tomorrow will be a better day to get something done. We may think that if a job is not started, then we will not need to quit it. There are many reasons we create to procrastinate.
As I look at 2020, I ask the question of what areas in my life do I procrastinate. As I look, I see that forgiving is one of my areas where I procrastinate. I hold onto the wrongs of how my life and heart have been hurt.
You may think, “Mike, you are in the forefront of other people. You have spoken about forgiving. What is up with this?” I am battling a hard heart from my 2019 year.
Here is what I have seen not forgiving do in my heart and life. I have had anxiety. I have not had trust. I have built a wall around my heart. I have seen myself get callous. I have even put up a wall in the Holy Spirit’s presence. I am not hearing his voice as clearly.
I will burn that ship! I will not procrastinate in forgiving. I know I need Christ’s help. I ask that Christ forgive me of my lack of forgiving others. In the movie, It’s a Wonderful Life, George Bailey goes through forgiving. Watching this movie again helped me see that I need to forgive. I will burn the ship of my procrastination on forgiving.
If you procrastinate on doing something, it will take over your life. You may find an excuse of why you cannot do something. We all have areas in our lives that we put off until tomorrow, but then put off again to another day. See it and act on it now.
Do not put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Burn it down, men. Find the Freedom in Christ to rule your life.
