‘The Lord was with Joseph, so he became a successful man. And he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian. Now his master saw that the Lord was with him and how the Lord caused all that he did to prosper in his hand. So Joseph found favor in his sight and became his personal servant; and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he owned he put in his charge. It came about that from the time he made him overseer in his house and over all that he owned, the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house on account of Joseph; thus the Lord ’ s blessing was upon all that he owned, in the house and in the field. ‘ Genesis 39:2-5
A week or so ago, I came across a quote from Steven Furtick~ “When you know the favor of God is on your life, you can find your place anywhere.” I don’t precisely know what he had in mind when he wrote that, but I have pondered that a handful of times and have some thoughts on what it means to me and may mean to some of you. Throughout my life I’ve had occasion to wonder if I’m where I should be, doing what I should, achieving what I might, being what I’m meant to, finding my place in this world. I think those questions are common to most. How do you know? I mean really know? The conclusion I’ve come to is God’s promise. His favor IS our place, so regardless of our physical location, the state of affairs, if you truly realize God’s favor is upon you, your place is right where you are. In Jesus. It’s a peace and awareness that lifts you above the things, places and positions of this world. Joseph is a perfect example. Despite his worldly circumstances, the deception by his brothers, tragedy, hardship and enslavement, Joseph knew that God’s favor was upon his life. So he lived a life reflective of that knowledge and was elevated because of it. He made a place “anywhere” and the results have echoed throughout history. So, know God’s favor is upon you and find your place. Have a blessed weekend.
