‘Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. ‘ Ephesians 5:1-2
We spend a great deal of time and energy trying to change others’ minds and behavior. Be it friends, family members, coworkers, significant others, etc. We are constantly trying to change them to be more like us. The bottom line is, they’re not us. They are them, imperfect, same as us. We try changing them. They try changing us, and the results are ALWAYS frustration and heartache.
Every single one of us should focus every ounce of energy we can possibly muster in emulating Christ. Not focusing on changing others to our way of thinking and believing, but rather changing ourselves, and our hearts to be like Christ. Christ is empathetic, compassionate, righteous (though not self righteous) forgiving, patient and loving above all else. If we spent more time aligning our heart with His, we would see others, their hearts, thoughts, actions and feeling in a completely different light. Through Christ’s work in us and our intentional allowing of Him to work us over in this way, would change the heart, behavior, thoughts and feelings toward us. Consequently eliminating a great deal of the frustration and heartache we cause doing it our way.
‘I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. ‘ Galatians 2:20
Just a little something I’ve been pondering this week. Have a blessed weekend
