1 Peter 2:17New Living Translation (NLT)
17 Respect everyone, and love the family of believers. Fear God, and respect the king.
A definition of honor by Chuck Holton is the quality of valuing things rightly; the practice o giving everything its purpose, based on valid assessment of what it is worth.
A life of honor can take on many different ideas and directions. What is honor to a man of god? Would you truly lay down your life for another man, for a cause, and for the sake of Christ?
When you get the opportunity look up William Swenson on You Tube. You will find a man rescuing men on the battle field during the Afghan War. You will see him retrieving men from the battle field while risking his own life to get them on a medical chopper. You will even notice him carrying a red cape on his back so that the choppers will find him in the rescues.
The thing I noticed most interesting was that he would kiss the men on the head as he left them. Why would he do that? It is said that men on the battlefield become brothers. I have got your back and you have got mine.
Men, we too are on a battle field. There are men who lay wounded or near death spiritually all because of our enemy, the devil. We need to be like the war hero William Swenson. Go back to the battle field and retrieve men who are either injured or help them in the fight.
That will require honor from you.
September 14 is our kickoff night for Vital Men. Let’s go after men who need our help and bring them to Jesus. It is going to be a great and powerful night with our guest speaker, Chuck Holton.
