Things seem to be rather crazy in these United States of America, nowadays, don’t they? “United” States doesn’t quite seem fitting right now. What’s good is being called evil and evil is being called good. On the micro level, I suppose we could analyze and point to a number of plausible contributing factors, but I want to look at the macro level. I believe the biggest single factor leading up to the state of affairs in this nation is the result of the majority’s silence. According to my research, in 2019 65% of American adults polled, professed a christian belief system and ideology. That is down from 75% in 2015, 78% in 2012, 81.6% in 2001, and 85% in 1990. That’s a 20% decline over the past 30 years, with 13% of that occurring in the past 8. What’s going on? Simple… the American church is not doing it’s duty. It’s silent. It is failing Jesus’ great commission.
‘You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits. ‘ Matthew 7:16-20 NASB
We’ve had it too good for too long. We’re comfortable and it’s made us complacent. We’re afraid of what other’s might think, say or do if we speak up, so we stay silent. We’re neglectful in our pursuit of Christ. I’m talking REAL pursuit and relationship with Jesus. I feel this needs said, because, where’s the fruit? Where are the converts? The gap is empty, because the church in general is not standing in it. So, instead the gap is widening, evil is pouring through at an ever increasing rate and the majority is getting quieter and quieter. Those statistics above are people. The percentage lost, are lost people. People condemned to hell if we do not stand up, move into the gap and start producing fruit. I believe God’s long standing blessings upon this nation are being lifted. His hand is coming off and we’re responsible. Boldness is required. Not from the few obedient faithful, but from all that profess Jesus Christ Lord and Savior, the only begotten Son of God, crucified and resurrected. Stand up and be counted. Move forward. Do what you’ve been called to do. God requires obedience, action, from me and from you. Disciplined devotion, pursuit of Jesus through communion with Him and devouring His word must be a priority above all else. That will lead you to obedience and action. If any of you have been mortified by the events of this time, what are we waiting for. It starts and ends with us. What will you do?
‘Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord , The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance. ‘ Psalms 33:12
God’s hand of blessing is lifting because our nation’s god is no longer the Lord. Where do you stand?!
Have a blessed weekend.
