Proverbs 3:11-13 (NASB) ‘My son, do not reject the discipline of the Lord Or loathe His reproof, For whom the Lord loves He reproves, Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights. How blessed is the man who finds wisdom And the man who gains understanding. ‘
In order for us to experience real growth and realize the life God has planned for us, we have to be willing to recognize our fault, especially under God’s correction. His correction is His refining force. The discipline of the Lord should be embraced, not shunned. His reproof is an act of loving kindness, reserved for His children. For that, we should be grateful. He shines a light on our sins, because sin can survive in the light. His correction sets us on a righteous path of fullness in Him. It prepares us for the work that He would have us do. It develops in us greater wisdom and discernment, so that we will know how to face it should it rise up in us again. His discipline makes us bolder, stronger and better equipped to stand in the moments when discipline, control and restraint is necessary. His correction provides perspective, that we may be an example, a tool of direction when others need guidance.
Lord, I am so humbled, yet exceedingly grateful that you love me enough to illuminate my shortcomings and provide me with the answers and direction I need when I get off the course you’d see me follow. Amen.
Have a blessed weekend.
