Luke 2:28 New International Version (NIV)
28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:
I love the devoted passion of Simeon. It says in Luke 2:25, that he was righteous and devout. He was a man who showed a deep religious commitment to God. He waited all his life to lay eyes on the promise of the coming of the Messiah.
Now, think about the moment he had when he saw Jesus. He was a little baby in his mother’s arms. It says the Holy Spirit was upon him. I bet he asked Mary if he could hold him. She gives him to Simeon, and it says he praised God. This is the day he lived for.
Salvation has come to Israel and all the world! The light to reveal to all the nations is here. Even though Christmas is now past, we celebrate the gift the gift forever.
Oh, that our hearts do not get tired and faint in the journey of our lives. We have the gift of salvation, and we are called to spread His Word to all people. We may live a righteous, devoted life to Christ all the days of our lives.
Simeon blessed the baby and speaks a word to Mary. She is to hold the joy of this day in her heart because she will see her son die and heartache will pierce her life. I am sure the moment could not be comprehended.
Men, let’s live like Simeon by having the passion of God in our hearts until we die. Live for Christ.
Strength and Courage
