Wednesday was the deadline to get in draw applications for New Mexico elk. This is always an exciting time of year for me. The research that goes into selecting units to apply to and the hope and anticipation of what the results will be in a few short months leaves me eagerly waiting. This marks the 16th year I have applied for a New Mexico elk tag. The first 15 were unsuccessful, but perhaps this will be the year. New Mexico is unique in the how they conduct their draw. It is a pure lottery every year. There are no points awarded for unsuccessful applications. Every year, every applicant has the same odds. It’s pure chance, luck of the draw. There are no guarantees, no assurances.
‘Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.’ 2 Corinthians 5:18-19,21
God has left nothing to chance. We don’t have to make application and wait for the results. He had a plan and a design to assure us a place and a positive outcome. His Son paid the price. He tore up the “application”. We don’t have to wait for the draw to know the results. The results are in. He accomplished His mission, left nothing to chance and insured, without question, that we would be awarded the greatest tag of all… eternal life alongside our Father and Him in His heavenly kingdom. All you have to do is choose. Have a blessed weekend.
‘that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. ‘ Romans 10:9-10
