No Pain in the Lions’ Den?

by | Aug 11, 2023 | Vital Men Devotions

‘Then the king was very pleased and gave orders for Daniel to be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den and no injury whatever was found on him, because he had trusted in his God. ‘ Daniel 6:23

“No injury whatever was found on him”.  In the KJV the word is hurt.  God sent an angel to shut the lions’ mouths because Daniel had remained faithful and blameless.  He protected Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from hurt/injury in the fiery furnace, again, due to their faithfulness.

I have not been without hurt or injury in this life.  Jesus knows I have been anything but righteous faithful and large portion of my life, and perhaps that attributes to the suffering I’ve had to endure.  However, I believe God uses that pain, injury and hurt to ours and others benefit.

What if the “No hurt” relates to the power of our testimony as much or more than the physical?  After all, how we walk through times of struggle and hurt says so much and has immense impact on those whom are witness to it than.

What if the “No hurt” refers to our eternal condition.  During our mortal journey, pain leads to refinement, polishing and reliance on God… IF we choose for it to.  IF we choose righteousness and faithfulness.  Does it not?

I’ve thought really hard on this in the context of my life.  I’ve not been without my share of struggles and pain.  However, the “hurt” is absolutely different when I am in a place of intimacy and commitment to Jesus.  When my faith is running full tilt and my trust in God is resolved, I believe I can say I’ve experienced “No hurt” in those instances.  More importantly, I know others have been witness to it when it has been the case.  I know, because they’ve told me.

Pain is inevitable, and perhaps even necessary.  After all, how can we truly appreciate the opposite, if we don’t know pain, struggle, hurt, frustration and anger.  Again, part of God’s refining process.  It may manifest in different forms, but God will show you “No hurt”.  You must anchor yourself in faith and trust Him in ALL things.  Have a blessed weekend.

‘I make a decree that in all the dominion of my kingdom men are to fear and tremble before the God of Daniel; For He is the living God and enduring forever, And His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed, And His dominion will be forever. He delivers and rescues and performs signs and wonders In heaven and on earth, Who has also delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.” ‘ Daniel 6:26-27
