I believe there is a tendency or bent that every single person falls on one side of the line or the other. That bent is revealed in the presence of harm. When danger presents itself there are some who, without thought or hesitation, will always step directly in its path to protect another from it. They have an innate protective nature. Generally speaking, I don’t think it’s taught or developed, but rather ingrained and automatic. However, that doesn’t mean it can’t be. Jesus exemplified that bent and called us to it, as well.
