It is Super Bowl week. Every year 32 teams fight for one goal. Win the Super Bowl! The General Managers choose coaches. Coaches choose assistant coaches. Together the draft, trade, and build a team worthy of the Super Bowl. They are clear in where they are going and how they think best to get there.
Where are you going and what are you trying to build? Do you even know? One of the saddest things I encounter is a person with out a vision. They take the open class, the quickest available job, and marry the first person that shows interest. Did you really go to school or work all day to watch a tv? Did you do the same all week to just be entertained on the weekend? Is there more than GPA’s, paychecks, 401k, cars, jobs, and week to week survival? If God created you and said that you were good (by the way God doesn’t make mistakes), what is His vision for you this year?
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.
God has a plan for you and the plan is for success, hope, and great future! The next few verses show us where to find that plan. It is with Him!!!! Call, pray, listen, seek, and YOU WILL FIND ME! This is like a blank check for vision. The God of creation has a specific plan for you! All of the words are relational. Vision for life comes from RELATIONSHIP with God. It is not a machine that you pull the right levers and out pulls your vision. It is God the person inviting you to know Him and look to Him for your calling.
Growing up I had plans to be a lawyer, doctor, or something that made a lot of money. My vision was about me. God vision was not me being about me. So God laughed at my plan and sent me to a life of ministry. This vision has been so painful, exciting, life giving, gut wrenching, faith stretching, often failing, best adventure, and not what I would have planned plan. God’s plan for me was NEVER about me, and God’s plan for you will NEVER be about you. It is about HIM leading you to bless OTHERS!
So go be friends with God and let Him set a vision that burns in your heart!
