The Foundation

Proverbs 10:25New Living Translation (NLT)

25 When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away,
but the godly have a lasting foundation.

How is your foundation? Quite a question to think about. Most of the time we acquire the word foundation to an actual one. This is something that holds up a building or a house.

I was raised putting in foundations from the time I was 14 to 29 years old. That was what I did. I worked for my father in the summers while going to school. Then as a young man, I continued. I packed 3’x8′ forms in and out of basements.

Most of the time a foundation required a footer and a 8″x8′ wall. Most people think that is all that is to that, but there is more. I learned to understand the dirt after the dig by assessing the color and the consistency of the soil which are factors in the formation of a solid foundation.

Now for the spiritual foundation. How is your spiritual foundation? Many times we have heard it said that Jesus in my Savior. We see the word Savior used 36 times in the Bible. The key to your spiritual foundation is allowing Jesus to be Lord. Lord is written 7,800 times in the Bible.

The word, Savior, describes the work Jesus did for us on the cross. The word, Lord, describes his position in Heaven as Lord and King.

So the full measure of your foundation is to deny yourself and allow Jesus to be your Lord and King. This is denying self and allowing Jesus to be the supreme authority over your life. When we do this, men, your foundation in him is rock solid. Nothing will take it out.

Strength and Courage

Michael
