Will You Stop at Mere Words?

‘Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. ‘ Philippians 2:1-7

I had a conversation with a pastor friend of mine the other day.  Part of which was spent discussing the utter insanity plaguing this world at present.  The bulk of it we spent focusing on our nation in particular.  Ben made posed a question, as a question we should be asking ourselves as we witness affronts to humanity and to God.  It’s one that I would wager few of us consistently ask.  I say that, because when he posed it to me, I realized it’s one I seldom ask myself.  The question is, “who does this hurt, directly, who?”  When you look on national and world events, topics and agendas, statements, policies, etc, with that question on your mind, it seriously alters you perspective.  The majority of the topics we discussed, when thinking about it in that context, hurts our children and women.  As I thought on this more and compared the issues of today with the issues throughout human history, that is almost always the case.  More often than not, children and women are the primary victims in society.  As men, is it not our duty, commanded by God, to put ourselves between them and harm?  Is it not our sacred duty to be their shield, their voice , their champion?  I think we all know the answer to that.  So where are the men in all that is going on?  I’m speaking primarily in general, societal terms.  However, I’m also appealing to each of you individually, myself included.  Where are you men of America?

It’s no exaggeration to state I see insanity and harm being slung daily.  Evil.  I see women and children subjected to a very deliberate attack directed by satan himself and I ask myself, “Scott, what are you doing besides talking”?  Men, we have reached a point where the souls of many, especially our children hang in the balance. I believe, like no other point in human history.  I also believe that God is lifting His hedge of protection from this nation.  Ask Job what satan does when God removes his restraints.  Satan is an unrelenting enemy, without hesitation, without mercy, destroying anyone not shielded by God’s hand.  God is permitting this because we, as a society, want this.  As a society we are chasing it.  So, I ask you Vital man of God, “will you now, when it matters most, stop at mere words?  Or… will you act on the beliefs you say you believe and cherish?!”  Have a blessed weekend.

‘And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. “Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to that man through whom the stumbling block comes! ‘ Matthew 18:5-7
