2 Thessalonians 3:12 New International Version (NIV)
12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat.
It is Labor Day weekend. The last three day weekend of the summer. It is the last weekend to camp or boat. It is a bitter sweet holiday with the coming of Autumn.
I am always reminded of this weekend and the diligence of work and giving it a 100%. I find work as being a place where I can use the God given talents the Lord has given me. Bear in mind that 50% of our waking hours are devoted to work.
Let’s look at 5 steps to stick with while you are working:
Step 1. Find your passion. Being passionate at what you do is life is essential. Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord and not for men.”
Step 2. Know your ‘WHY’. Why are you doing what you do? Proverbs 22:29 says, “Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.”
Step 3. Write out a plan. Write out a plan about your work then pray about it. James 1:5 says, “If any of you asks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Step 4. Make is a daily habit. Here is the diligent part of your plan. You have to incorporate it into your daily life. Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Step 5. Stick with it. Do not let anything or anyone discourage you. Keep the goal in front of you. 1 Timothy 6:12 says, “Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed before many witnesses.”
