9 I myself will guarantee his safety; you can hold me personally responsible for him. If I do not bring him back to you and set him here before you, I will bear the blame before you all my life.
Judah accepted full responsibility for Benjamin’s safety. He did not know what that might mean for him. He was still determined to do his duty. In the end, Judah’s words caused Joseph to break down with real, deep emotion. This caused him to reveal who he was to his brothers. Have you ever needed to accept responsibility? It can be very difficult. When you accept responsibility, it will build character. It will build confidence. It will earn the respect of others. Accepting responsibility motivates you to complete your work.
