Exodus 16:23 New International Version (NIV)
23 He said to them, “This is what the Lord commanded: ‘Tomorrow is to be a day of sabbath rest, a holy sabbath to the Lord. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.’”
Manna appeared on the ground each day as thin flakes like frost. The people gathered it, ground it like grain, and made it into honey like tasting pancakes. The manna was a gift. It came every day and was just what they needed. It satisfied their temporary physical needs. Jesus is like manna. He is our daily bread who satisfies our eternal spiritual needs. The Israelites were not to work on Sunday. God knows that the busy routine of life distracts us. Our busy lives crowd out what is important. Carefully guard your time and take one day off a week to rest and worship God.
