Mark 5:28 New International Version (NIV)
28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.”
Have you ever wished or thought, ‘If I could only touch the hem of Jesus’ garment?’ I have talked with a lot of people recently who have been hit in their lives with some sort of health issue. We all have had something happen in our lives with family members or friends.
I had coffee with a friend who is a cancer survivor. It was very serious, but the Lord touched his life is such a way that he is cancer free. He praises and rejoices that Jesus healed him.
Not every story has that kind of an ending. I have a friend who needs healing in his body so that he can receive an organ transplant. There is another friend who received news that his son has an illness. I have another friend who will be taking cancer treatment.
All of these men are asking just a touch would be enough. The woman who was in the crowd surrounding Jesus thought this. She had a bleeding problem for 12 years. The Bible says that she gave all she had and received no comfort or cure.
In the story in Mark 5, she touches Jesus’ robe and is instantly healed. It says that Jesus stopped and wanted to know who had touched him. The woman knew what had happened to her, and she went to her knees trembling with fear. She told the truth.
I love this next part. Jesus with his compassion for our everyday lives and our pains tells the woman, ‘Your faith has healed you, go in peace.’ She is now freed from her suffering.
Maybe this is you today.
Jesus, I just need a touch.
Men, keep believing, pursuing, and reaching for Jesus.
Jesus knows what you are suffering, and he has compassion.
Keep the faith and stay the course.
