I came across a quote the other day. It was attributed to C. S. Lewis and it said, “Be weird. Be random. Be who you are. Because you never know who would love the person you hide.” When I read that, my mind immediately went to Psalms 139:14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
In today’s society with it’s marketing bombardments and the fantasy world of social media, it’s more important than ever to keep in mind these things. Daily, I see people wishing they were this way instead of that. Trying to look like this person, act like that person, achieve what those people have achieved. As a society we have allowed ourselves to buy into this need to “fit” in, but in reality God wants you to stand out! He created you a uniquely individual being, with your own look, mind and personality. Satan is trying to convince us to be like the next person, the person in the magazine, or the old friend on facebook that seems to do and have it all.
There’s nothing wrong with trying to make improvements, strive to be a better you, but not at the cost of loosing the identity God gave you. “Be who you are”!!! Just like God made you to be!
Jeremiah 29:11 (NASB) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
