‘Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. ‘ Philippians 4:8
I like to think that I spend most of my time there. I think most people who know me well, would say that I am generally an upbeat, optimistic individual. I tend to focus on the good things in my life and to see the best in others, giving people the benefit of the doubt more often than not. With that said, I too am subject to allowing my mind to go to dark thoughts, to get down, depressed, feel inadequate or to dwell on the “negatives” in life and others. The thing to remember is to not stay there. That’s where satan wants us to live. That’s how he wants us to feel and how he wants us to view the world and others.
The worst thing we can do to satan is to represent Jesus Christ in word and deed to those around us. We do that by focusing our minds and hearts on what He’s directing us to in Philippians 4:8. When, despite what is happening to and around us, we choose to focus on the things that are of God, the world around us changes. The people within our sphere of influence change because our perspective is what it should be and that is contagious. Have a blessed weekend.
