Proverbs 18:22 New International Version (NIV)
22 He who finds a wife finds what is good
and receives favor from the Lord.
How often to we see the positive traits of our wives? After the honeymoon is over and real life begins, do you see the strengths of your wife?
In most marriages the weakness of the spouse can become magnified. We can focus on what we do not thing they do, or we may have expectations of what we thought it would be like. Do not forget the strengths she brings to the marriage.
I am learning that it is extremely important to praise her for her strengths. Be less critical and more praising. My wife likes order, and our home is orderly. I love that about her. Everything has a place, and I do try my best to help her with that.
Her strength compliments my weaknesses. God created us different which makes us stronger together. She is a saver, and I can be a spender. We need balance together in those strengths and weaknesses.
We also work through those “messy middles”. Those are the places which aggravate each of us. We choose to give space of who we are and embrace the strengths of the other. We work through our weaknesses. We are a good team that pulls together, and I love her all the more for it. We do not allow the enemy a foothold in fault finding. Instead, we look to Christ to strengthen each other.
Focus on the strengths of your wife. Praise your wife. Work through the ‘messy middles’ with your wife. Do not allow the enemy to take a foothold. Look to Christ to strengthen your marriage.
Strength and Courage
