‘For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin , nor was any deceit found in H is mouth ; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.’ 1 Peter 2:21-25
“There may be some sins of which a man cannot speak, but there is no sin which the blood of Christ cannot wash away.” ~ Charles Spurgeon
What a great passage to remind us of Jesus’ love for us and what He did for our sakes. It’s also a great reminder of what is expected of us. It seems to me that in today’s culture, sin has become ‘not a big deal’. I know I am guilty of thoughts of, “well it wasn’t that bad”. This passage is convicting. It is a big deal. Sin is sin. There is no big or small, if it’s not of God, it’s sin and sin is evil. Every one of our sins caused Jesus to suffer, bleed and die. Have you ever thought about your sin that way. It IS a big deal! Have a blessed weekend.
