11 And she made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.”
Be careful what you promise in prayer because God may take you up on it. Hannah wanted a child so badly, she was willing to promise her child to God. God took her up on her promise. To Hannah’s credit, she followed through on her promise. We are in no position to barter with God. When you pray, make sure if you make a promise, you are willing to follow through on it. Ignoring a promise or not following through is dishonest. God keeps his promises, and he expects you to do the same.
