This past week, I forced myself to go through some things that I have been putting off for some time, because it has not been a priority to get them done. It was not fun, it was physically demanding, it was a exhausting, it was emotionally difficult, and it made me confront some uncomfortable truths about myself that I have been avoiding. So, in the end it was good to have moved forward, but would have been much easier to go about things in a different manner earlier. I have developed a motto about getting things done and call it ‘Do it now, or you’ll do it later.’ If we avoid something now, it will still have to be done eventually. Is there anything you have been putting off for a while that you know you should be working to resolve?
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1
If we were to make a list of the things that we feel God is calling us to do in regard to changing in our own lives, in our relationships with others, and our relationship with God, we could probably come up with one or two things in each category. We might even choose ‘easy’ things that give the appearance of progress, but we may know deep down that there are difficult things that we should be progressing toward as well. Its easy to put these things off and say, maybe I’ll start on that tomorrow, but it is almost always better to address it sooner than later. May you have the courage to take steps toward doing those difficult things that God is calling you to do!
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
