‘Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for the profit which increases to your account. But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you have sent, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God. I find myself in a season of abundance and blessings. I have been given much and am exceedingly grateful. I have been entrusted with an extraordinary opportunity with a company that I am very proud and secure in the privilege to work for. I have asked a beautiful, thoughtful and caring woman, whom I love and respect tremendously, to be my wife, and she has accepted. After what had seemed to be a long and difficult time in the desert with no oasis in sight, now would seem to be a season to reap what has been sown.
We have determined to find a property of our own, on which to start our life together. We have been doing our due diligence on the financial side of things, exploring options to buy land and build or buy an existing property. With that said, I find myself overly anxious in pushing forward, trying to make things happen in “my time”.
But we do that, don’t we? We determine in our minds that this is what we want, so we charge in and try to “make it happen”.
This week, God laid upon my heart the need to understand that patience is very much a virtue. He revealed the importance of putting aside anxiety, and trying to make things happen, but rather prayerfully awaiting His guidance and direction. He revealed the ever present and reassuring assurance that He will reveal what He has in store at the appropriate time. My job is to remain dedicated to prayerful observation, diligence of pursuit and logistical execution, and faith that what He has in store is not only better, but the best for our future. So, my prayer is that He would grant me peace, wisdom, discernment and discipline to resolve to be obedient to His lead and His timing and that He will direct our steps as He sees fit. Amen.
‘Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ‘ Philippians 4:4-7
