Ephesians 1:5 Having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.
We have been adopted.
The moment we gave our lives to Jesus and received His forgiveness and cleansing of our sins, we became a son/daughter of the most high God. God no longer sees us as ‘sinners’, but He sees us as His own sons and daughters. He already had planned and predestined us to be His children through our faith in Jesus Christ. This was “in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will” (AMP).
It was God’s will for us to be His children. It’s so important for us to see ourselves as children of God, but so often we still see ourselves as ‘sinners’. I believe the heart of the gospel is God’s unconditional love for us, in that while we were still sinners, He sent His son as a sacrifice to reconcile us back to the Father—adopting us into His family as His sons and daughters. If you never grasp anything else, understanding this wonderful truth of who you are, a child of the most high God, can truly liberate you.
Reflect a moment on just being a child of God and give Him thanks for making this possible.
