James 1:2-4 “…Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing…”

We cannot escape the trials and temptations we go through in our lives. The trials we go through, though hard to endure, develops endurance and patience within us. We need to let these be developed in our lives, so that we may be fully developed—lacking in nothing. By knowing this, we can consider it joyful because of what is developed in us as a result. It is not joyful going through trials, trials are never joyful, but if we look beyond the trial and understand the purpose of it, what it accomplishes in us, we can consider it joyful.

Consider it joyful, though for now it is not for the trying of your faith brings maturity in God.
