Proverbs 25:4 “…Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth [the material for] a vessel for the silversmith [to work up]…”
God has been likened to the ‘Silversmith’ in Malachi 3: 3. Through our trials, sufferings and afflictions, God is refining us. The dross of our old lives is being melted away, leaving the good stuff that is workable to the ‘Silversmith’—God. He is working in us all. He allows the trials of life to bring out the things that hold us back—the hurts of the past, or the attitude that’s not right—He brings it up so we can deal with it as we allow Him to heal us. It is a painful process, but one we all must go through from time to time.
Is there something the Lord is putting His finger on in your life? Don’t run away from it, or think that if you just don’t think about it, it will go away. It doesn’t happen that way. Allow God to help you overcome it and heal you, so you can move on. When being refined in the fire, God won’t let you burn. Refining away the dross of our lives will leave what is good and purified.
