“If anyone does not love the Lord, he is to be accursed. Maranatha!”—1 Corinthians 16:22
The Corinthian church had many differences. But, concluding his letter to these believers, Paul stressed that they should focus on Jesus. It was not enough to know about Him. The key was to love Him. Paul knew that having a love relationship with Jesus changes everything. When we love Him, we realize that Christianity is not a religion or a set of rules. Rather, it is about a relationship. Being in love with Jesus helps us develop the right priorities and changes our approach to life. Instead of being concerned with ourselves, we will seek to know and serve Him. We will want to be with Him, and we will desire His presence. Only the Father knows when Jesus will return. But the Bible reminds us that He could return at any time, and we should be ready to meet Him. How can we be sure we’re ready? We can start by developing a love relationship with Him. We can be so in love that we long for His presence—here on earth or with Him in eternity. Are you in love with Jesus? Do you have a vital relationship with Him? Make this your priority. Don’t allow anything to come between you and your Lord. Long to be with Him.
Reflection Question: How are you preparing yourself for Jesus’ return?
