4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
The belief in only one God is monotheism. The Hebrew nation was a distinctive nation where they believed in one true and living God. There were many religions of the time, as there are today, where there is a belief in many gods. There are people who put their trust in values or belief systems. We have people living all around us who believe in different systems and gods. The day is coming when God will be recognized as the only one. Our job as Christians is to keep a watchful eye and to be prepared. He will be King over the whole earth.
