You’ve probably heard the phrase “the joy of the Lord is my strength” or remember singing these words as a song at some point. This phrase is found in Nehemiah 8:10.
Life in 2025 is challenging. It can be emotionally draining and mentally it can often be an uphill battle. Without being grounded in our faith and in the Bible, we struggle to engage the JOY that God provides. The reality … even understanding the truths of Scripture, we may still ride the rollercoaster of emotions with daily living.
This weekend I talked with one of my college friends. We talked thru what to expect with a major surgery he is undergoing this week. He shared how anxiety has crippled him numerous times in the past years with significant life events, but he also confidently noted that he has been learning how to lean into God’s hope and joy.
We each talked about how we value the truth of Romans 15:13 (NIV) May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
How powerful is that promise that God gives us?!
My prayer for us as VITAL MEN is that we surrender to God and allow the Holy Spirit to fill us up like only He can do. He WILL give us the JOY that empowers us to function as emotionally healthy men. Satan ain’t stopping us!!
