Isaiah 43:1-3 NIV But now, this is what the Lord says – he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”
Vital Men … we just watched and discussed Episode One of Season One of The Chosen in this past week. The episode title (I Have Called You By Name) showed the story of Mary Magdalene from her time as a child when she recited the verses of Isaiah 43 with her father to the final scene of the episode where Jesus calls her by her name and recites the truth of Isaiah 43 to her. This interaction with Jesus was the game-changer for Mary. Life had beat her down; she was demon-possessed and struggling significantly.
I am participating in a discipleship study with my co-workers based on Louie Giglio’s book … Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table: It’s Time to Win the Battle of Your Mind. Louie references Isaiah 43:1 as one of the top Bible verses for us to claim as a victory statement in our daily battles and warfare with Satan. Satan would love for us to hold onto the belittling names and images that tear us down … just like Mary Magdalene was stuck and struggling in her identity as Lilith.
He has called YOU by name … Vince. Steve. Brad. Rob. Henry. Curt. So beautiful that the list goes on and on for ALL of us.
Jesus has won the victory and He allows us to join Him and His power and His peace! Let’s continue to daily claim our identity that is grounded in Him.
