Men – perhaps you know when you are most vulnerable to make poor decisions, to not stand strong on your commitments, to waver in your obedience to God’s calling. Have you heard of the H.A.L.T. acronym? Hungry. Angry. Lonely. Tired.
Those four factors can trip us up in daily living. We are NOT at the top of our game if any one of those issues is in play. Satan was thinking that Jesus might break in His humanness following His 40 day fast. Tough stuff! Jesus leaned into the Bible and the strength of God’s Word. Go back and check out Matthew 4:1-11 for a review on how Jesus stood up against temptation.
I know I am weak, compromised, vulnerable, at risk and in danger when any of these four factors are in play for me. I’ve recognized over these past years that it’s beyond my own control at times to self-correct when I get to the tipping point with hunger, anger, loneliness or fatigue.
What do we do in these situations? What did Jesus do? He went back to the biblical basics. That is our opportunity also.
Men – let’s continue to regularly lean into God as the vulnerability factors kick into gear.
Abba, we come before You requesting YOUR power in our vulnerability. We admit that we can NOT successfully stand in our own power. We need You! Amen.
