Scripture:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5–6
Lesson:
How do you TURN your life over to Jesus?
T: Trust
Deciding to turn your life and your will over to God requires trust.
U: Understand
After you decide to ask Jesus into your life, you need to begin to seek His will for your life in all your decisions.
R: Repent
To truly repent, you must not only turn away from your sins, but turn toward God.
N: New Life
After you ask Jesus into your heart, you will have a new life!
Life Application:
The word repent means to turn around or, more specifically, change your mind. To truly repent, you will have a change of heart about your sin. You will see your sin for what it is, and it will repulse you. You will desire Jesus more than your sin. This is how the Holy Spirit helps us overcome our hurts, habits, and hang-ups. When the enemy attacks after we repent (and he will), the Holy Spirit will open our eyes and our hearts to seek Jesus and not our flesh. In this way, we overcome our hurts, habits, and hang-ups not by our own power but through the blood Jesus paid for us and the power of the Holy Spirit.
