Scripture:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Lesson:
After making the decision to ask Jesus into our lives, we must begin to seek His will in ALL our decisions. We need to get to know and understand Him and what He wants for our lives.
W: W-Will is to “Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control.” Principle 3
We exchange our will for His will. This is a choice we make daily-it won’t happen on its own.He desires a relationship with us.
I: Initial decision to accept Christ as our Lord and Savior is a one-time decision that you made during your recovery journey
Once you make this decision,
L: Look for God’s will in all our decisions. No matter how large or small
Sometimes we believe that God only cares about the big-picture things, but God’s will extends to ALL areas or our lives. We need to seek Him in every decision.
L: Listen and pray for God’s will prior to making our decisions. Share them with our accountability team before making any decisions.
Before you make a decision based on your feelings, pause and ask God for guidance. He will show you what to do.These people have the ability to look into our lives and see things we may not notice on our own.
Application:
So often I hear Christians say all we have to do is just have faith in Jesus, and then they stop there. That leaves so many not truly understanding God’s “Will” for their life. They think just saying they believe is the beginning and the end of calling yourself a Christian. But this is so far from the truth. “Faith,” when it comes to God and Jesus, is a full surrender and making them/him Lord of your life. It’s more than just lip service. While this idea may be hard to wrap your head around, I can promise you, brothers, living within God’s “Will” is the greatest place to be. You will never experience more peace, joy, and happiness.
