Scripture:
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. Galatians 5:13“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” Psalm 143:10
Lesson:
his is how to take the ACTION of turning our will over to Christ.
A – Ask for God’s will to be done
Trying to do things our way is what distanced us from God in the first place. In order to thrive, we need to ask God to reveal His will to us, and that His will would be done, even if it goes against what we would choose.
C – Choose to follow His will over our own
Once we know God’s will, we will have to choose to follow it. Even if He leads us to something we’d rather not do, He can be trusted.
T – Trust that He has a plan for us
God wants to use our pain and experiences to help other people! We need to daily trust that God has a plan for us. It might not always feel like it, but we can go to God’s Word for reminders when we need them.
I – Invest in others by serving
God wants us to serve other people. One way for us to know that we are changing is when we take the focus off ourselves and put it on Christ and others.
O – Obey God’s Word
We have been given a way to find out directly from God what His will is for us: the Bible. We need to spend time in the Bible reading about what He
wants for us. But we have to do more than just read: we have to apply the truth we find there in our lives!
N – Notice areas to put our recovery into practice
We have experienced amazing changes and found some victory over key areas in our lives. Now, we may find that it’s time to work on new things that we didn’t know about. It’s time to take action on those new areas. When God reveals them, face them head-on. We aren’t looking for freedom from just one area but in all areas of our lives!
Application:
Once we give our lives to Jesus, it’s time to move. It’s time to really learn about the Character of Christ and God and begin to listen to his still small voice for what his will is for your life. This takes time in the Word along with prayer and meditation. All of these things require action on our part. It takes us being intentional about our relationship with Christ. That may be hard at first or seem like you’re in unfamiliar territory. But the more you do it, and the closer you get to Christ, the more you hear his voice. And what an awesome voice it is! He will never run out of new ways to amaze you and challenge you. And it’s AWESOME!!!
