A Promise

by | Aug 27, 2021 | Vital Life Application Devotions

21 Now swear to me by the Lord that you will not kill off my descendants or wipe out my name from my father’s family.”

22 So David gave his oath to Saul. Then Saul returned home, but David and his men went up to the stronghold.

When you make a promise, it is important to keep a promise. Try not to make promises that are unrealistic to keep, or that you know that you are unable to keep. Think before you make a promise. David kept his promise to Saul. David promised to be kind to Saul’s descendants. Saul’s sons were eventually killed by the Philistines and Gibeonites but Jonathan’s son, Mephibosheth was still alive and was invited to live in David’s palace when he became king.
