Lesson:
How do we get past the barriers of pride, fear, guilt, worry, and doubt that keep us from taking the next step forward on our recovery journey? The answer is in the acrostic for ACTION.
A: Accept Jesus Christ As Your Savior!
Now is the time to commit your life, to establish that personal relationship with Jesus that He desires.
C: Commit To Seek And Follow HIS Will!
We need to be willing to accept God’s power, not our own.
T: Turn It Over
Turn over all the big things AND the little things in your life to Jesus, who wants a relationship with ALL of you.
I: It’s Only The Beginning
Our walk with Jesus begins with the decision to seek and follow God’s will and is followed by a lifelong process of growing as a Christian.
O: One Day At A Time
Our recovery and healing journey happens one day at a time. We can only change our hurts, habits, and hang-ups in the present.
N: Next – How Do I Ask Christ Into My Life?
We will answer this question next week.
Life Application:
For far too long, I said I was a believer in Christ, but what I didn’t realize was that I was not a follower of Christ. Christ doesn’t want us just to “say” we believe. He truly wants us to submit to him and His will in our life. Once we do that, He truly can begin to work in our lives. The longer we stay on the fence, the longer we will not receive the fruits of the Holy Spirit. So JUMP!!! I promise if you go all in for Christ, He will go all in for you, and your life will never be the same. So take action and seek him above all else.
*Celebrate Recovery meets Tuesday nights at the McVay Family Center in New Sharon. This is a safe place to find honesty, hope, and healing. The meal starts at 6 pm, and the lesson begins at 6:30 pm. Hope to see you there!
