Attitude

by | Jan 6, 2021 | Vital Life Application Devotions

14 The people of Joseph said to Joshua, “Why have you given us only one allotment and one portion for an inheritance? We are a numerous people, and the Lord has blessed us abundantly.”

15 “If you are so numerous,” Joshua answered, “and if the hill country of Ephraim is too small for you, go up into the forest and clear land for yourselves there in the land of the Perizzites and Rephaites.”

There were two contrasting attitudes toward settling the land. Caleb took what God gave him and moved ahead to fulfill God’s plan for him and his descendants. Caleb was confident God would help him drive out the wicked inhabitants, and he worked to fully occupy his land. Then, in contrast to Caleb’s attitude was the attitude of the two tribes of Joseph. They were given rich land and a lot of it, but they were afraid to take full possession. Also, they begged for more land. What attitude do you want to have? Do you want to have Caleb’s attitude where you move ahead to fulfill God’s plan for your life and work to drive out the sin in your life to fully occupy the peace, life, and joy that God has for you? Or, do you have the attitude of the two tribes of Joseph where you are afraid to move ahead, cannot fully drive out sin in your life, and you are never satisfied? Which one do you want? You can choose the attitude you want to have, you just need to see it and go for it with God by your side.
