Genesis 27:11-12 New International Version (NIV)
11 Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, “But my brother Esau is a hairy man while I have smooth skin. 12 What if my father touches me? I would appear to be tricking him and would bring down a curse on myself rather than a blessing.”
How you react to a moral problem can expose your real motives. Are you more worried about getting caught or about doing what is right? Jacob was not bothered by the deceitfulness of his mother’s plan. He was afraid of getting in trouble while carrying out the plan. If you are worried about getting caught, you are probably doing something that is not honest. Fess up and do what is right, or you could pay a huge price for the dishonesty.
