46 he said to them, “Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. 47 They are not just idle words for you—they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”
Moses was urging the Israelites to think about God’s Word. He told them to teach it to their children. Why would he do this? What does this mean for us today? Your Bible can sit on your bookshelf and get all dusty and it will do nothing for you. On the other hand, you can make God’s Word a living part of your life. Read it daily. Think about it. Bind God’s Words to your heart and mind. Have it become a part of your very being and soul. You will discover the wisdom of God’s message, and you can apply it to your life today. You can pass God’s work in your life on to your children. God will change you and the people around you will see it. God’s Word is real help for real life.
