Psalm 81:2 New International Version (NIV)
2 Begin the music, strike the timbrel,
play the melodious harp and lyre.
It is the season of Christmas music. For some men, we endure it. For others, they enjoy it. It brings joy into hearts when we enter in and allow our hearts to sing the coming of the new born King.
Recently, I have been watching Christmas videos to play for men’s group, and I ran across this guy named Alex Boyeft. He is an African American from Nigeria. He is a singer, and I listened to one of his remake songs of The Little Drummer Boy. I encourage you to watch it.
In the song you will see a woman and her two daughters who have lost their home, and they are living in a small RV. As they are sitting, there is this guy and a group of singers who show up singing the song, The Little Drummer Boy. They show kindness and love by helping this woman and her two daughters see the love of Christ.
To say the least, it touched my own heart. Christmas is a time when emotions are high with joy and sadness and depression. I say this because, Christmas brings back memories of my mother who has been gone for 10 years. I still feel the loss in my heart.
My wife shared with me to allow Christmas to rejoice and celebrate my mother’s life. For me to celebrate my mother’s life is to enjoy Christmas because she loved Christmas time. I am asking the Holy Spirit to help me sing the great Christmas Carols with joy, to celebrate Christ’s birth, and to know that he is coming again.
I am reminded that the loss of life is not good bye, but I will see you soon.
Strength and Courage
Michael
