WORK – Sept 9, 2019 – The Power of Prayer

To have power in prayer, you must experience God’s presence. In the beginning, James says if any of you suffered hardships, you should pray. Everyone within the sound of my voice, without a doubt today, is having some sort of hardship. Something is going on. We deal with struggles and strife every day of our lives. Isn’t that correct? A lot of people will go to Facebook. They will take time to post things about hardships that they’re dealing with in life. Whether you like it or not, it’s there. Some will ask for prayer. Sometimes you can donate money because of their hardship. And often times people post hoping, and wondering, does anyone simply care?

WORK – Aug 25, 2019 – The Power of Forgiveness

Today we’re continuing our series that we’re going to look at what it takes to draw close to God and what hinders us from that happening. People will often ask me, Mike, what keeps me from having a real relationship with God? Then they will tell me that there they’ll give me reasons of why they can’t spend time with God themselves: too busy to read the Bible, too busy to pray, wanting something to hear from God, or the only time that they do pray is when something tragic, horrific happening happens in their life. Basically, they’re asking God to be to be their God, only when it’s convenient for them. Now that is not a way to draw near to God. And those are the things that promise you this morning are ways that separate us and keep God at a distance not that he does it. That we do see folks, relationships take time. It’s work…

WORK – Aug 18, 2019 – Power of the Tongue

Your words. How does your tongue speak. Your words have power in the place of where you work, and they give you life. They give life, or do they give death. We’ve all had these encounters in which we wish we could take back the words that came from our mouths. And my hope and prayer for us this morning is that we become more aware of the words that we speak. I ran across an interesting scene on a movie…

Work – Aug 11, 2019 – Preconceptions

James is is talking directly to Christians about prejudice. Giving people preference over other people based on clothes, money or even their race. I have to ask myself, does that happen in our own churches? Do we only allow people in our church if they hold a certain economic status, or even color we live in a community that is for the most part, white, Caucasian, not trying to be racist here. But in our area in Iowa, predominantly white, Caucasian is the majority. It’s only in our cities of our state that we truly find color or race differences. That is so true.
