Yes! I told you last week about Louie Giglio’s book (Don’t Give The Enemy A Seat At Your Table) and our upcoming Vital Men book study on Wednesday nights. I’m going to repeat a message about Louie Giglio and his book this week because I want you to consider again the opportunity to join our 6 week book study.
I’ll share with you how the book idea came together for Louie. He notes that he was in the midst of a challenging situation and he was hoping to be affirmed and vindicated by his friend. Instead, his friend texted him these words: Don’t give the Enemy a seat at your table.
Louie notes: “I pushed aside my annoyance and let the message sink in. Quickly I saw that my friend had nailed it. I had allowed my adversary – the Devil – to influence the conversation inside my mind.
My struggle wasn’t about fighting with people. People were involved, but the battle I was facing was against principalities and powers of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). My heavenly Father wasn’t making me afraid or paranoid. My Shepherd wasn’t putting thoughts of despair in my mind. The harmful thoughts were coming from someone else.
The Enemy had taken a seat at my table, and I was allowing myself to listen to a killer. Right there in my driveway, I determined to take back my table. The Devil would have to flee.
In the days that followed, my mind was riveted on these nine words. As negative thoughts would enter my mind, I’d say to myself, Don’t give the Enemy a seat. Don’t entertain his ideas. These thoughts are not from a good and trustworthy Shepherd. Move on.”
Men – fighting our Enemy is a TEAM sport … not an individual escapade. I know our men’s gathering in these upcoming weeks will disappoint and frustrate and possibly anger our Enemy. I am great with that! I love it actually.

- Vital Men kick off the Louie Giglio book study on Wednesday, June 3 between 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the Pella Well (419 E. Oskaloosa Street).
- We will continue to meet on Wednesday evenings thru July 8.
- No need to purchase or read Louie Giglio’s book. We’ll discuss the content each week as a group.
- Don’t worry if you can’t attend each week. Vacations, service projects, etc. happen in these upcoming months.
