Daniel 6:22 (NASB) ‘My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths and they have not harmed me, inasmuch as I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime.”
In the 6th chapter of Daniel, we find the story of him being cast into the lion’s den for violating a royal order to petition no other God but the king. The decree itself was an attempt by Daniel’s enemies to ambush him and turn the king against him. Their goal was to elevate themselves and their standing with the king. It backfired. The angel of the Lord came, shut the lions’ mouths and Daniel was not only saved but then exalted to new heights of position and influence. The schemers? They and their entire families we cast into the den in Daniel’s place and destroyed.
There will always be people in this world willing to bear false witness against others, sabotage them, attack their character, motives and intentions of their hearts. They do this out of spite, pride and greed, just to name a few. However, when a person chooses to stand on the side of God and righteousness, and remains blameless in the sight of the “king”, the lions’ mouths will be shut. We have a Lord and Savior in Jesus Christ. His work at the cross has made us righteous and blameless in the sight of the one and only King. We are children of the living God, so stand on that and fear in the face of lions cannot prevail. Have a blessed weekend.
